Haze is back!
Two areas in the Klang Valley - Port Klang and Cheras - have been declared as unhealthy as of 11am due to the haze.Port Klang recorded an air pollution index reading of 138 up from 125 before 11am.The reading in Cheras stood at 107.Another 30 areas have been classified as having a moderate reading, including Nilai, Petaling Jaya, Kajang Country Heights, Shah Alam, Putrajaya and Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur.Kuching recorded the best reading followed by Kangar and Sandakan with 28.Readings of between 0 and 50 shows good air quality while 51 to 100 is moderate.Air quality is deemed unhealthy for readings of 101 to 200, very unhealthy from 201 to 300 and hazardous if above 300.The index was released by the Department of Environment.The next reading will be released at 5pm.In the past, the open burning of forests in Indonesia's Sumatra has been blamed for the smog in neighbouring countries. As of yesterday, there were 98 hot spots in Sumatra.
